Week 11

The excitement is starting to get to more people, so is the news. My mom decided to start her knitting projects early so we picked out some green & yellow yarn for a snuggler (I think that is what it is called) and teal and yellow yarn for a blanket. She will be busy the next couple months. Too bad she can't start on some really cute baby clothes until the child is born. There are so many cute girl outfits to knit!!

One of our goddaughter's parents, and some of our best friends, learned the news this weekend. Shawna thought there might be a chance we were pregnant. She is due in April, our other friend Melissa is due in June and then me in Sept. Over beers this past summer the three of us talked about how we could be pregnant at the same time. Our beer induced predictions didn't get the order of due dates right.

Adam and I started to talk about baby names this week. There are advantages and disadvantages to having a baby after a lot of friends. Disadvantage: many baby names are taken and we don't want to duplicate names (especially if we will see them often). It isn't horrible to do that, Mike's are everywhere, it was our choice. Advantage: second-hand baby items. Recycling gently used baby items, for a baby that won't know the difference, is perfect. We have such wonderful friends!

March 3rd we have our twelve week ultrasound and on March 4th we have the triple screen testing. Next week will be full of excitement and anticipation of the test results. We will let you know how things turn out and attach the newest photo of Sweet P. Once we have the appointments we are going to start telling folks and direct them to this blog. The excitement continues!!

Week 10

The past week was full of excitement. We told both sets of grandparents this weekend with fun Grandparent gifts. Due to Peters trip to Hawaii we were not able to spend as much time enjoying the news with them as we would have all liked. They do have the good news to think about for the next three weeks. The Petersen parents were ecstatic. This being the first grandbaby I think it took them some time to process the joyous news.

Sweet P has changed a bit and is now about an inch long. Because of my past eating habits, only wanting to eat pasta and carbs to calm the nausea, my wardrobe is being smaller already. Now I am able to eat normal foods again and am feeling much better. Brady is happy too because I get to take her for the daily walks again, weather permitting. I continue to be tired, falling asleep on Saturday night at 8:30pm.

We continue to be excited about the changes and have been reading some books. Adam really enjoyed the book pregnancy sucks, for men. No baby names have been thrown around and we will have to think of one for both sexes. I think we might have found the bedding, we will see how I feel in a bit.

Here is the update for the week. Our next appt isn't until March 3rd. After that we will begin telling everyone.

Short update - week 9

Though no one is reading this yet, I have to keep it up-to-date to make it complete. This week was the hardest for me. The nausea got to be a bit intolerable. No homeopathic options worked so we moved onto medication. Walking around in a daze with no desire to eat anything, though trying to eat anything to make the feeling go away, isn't really the way you want to spend the day. After a magical little pill, I felt like a human again. Friday I could actually think clearly and get work done around the house. Some books say there are harder weeks then others, and I have made it through one of those. Today has been better then last week.

Adam has been a wonderful caregiver. Last week he made a trip to the grocery store everyday I think. Friday was the first dinner I made him in weeks. It is amazing what you can get already made at the grocery store these days. Rotisserie chicken is truly a gift from God.

We will see how this week goes traveling to Atlanta. I am not looking forward to the time change, bed change, and all around change. At least there are pills to make me a human again. They might have considered firing me if I was there last week. Adam at least is legally bound to be around me and knows "he did this to me."

This weekend is the unveiling to the family. Can't wait to spread the good news to the family.

Heartbeat

February 4th we had our first Dr. appt. We learned more from the Dr. on what I can't do during the coming months, what the future holds, and tests that are coming. More informed, Adam got to experience his wife in a whole new light. Little does he know, this is only the beginning! The Dr. stated all was looking good.

Finally to the moment of truth. As an analytical couple, we have been cautiously excited and I had put in my mind to not get excited until we saw the heartbeat. The tech dimmed the lights for mood lighting, oh and to see things better. They have a nice screen over our head to give us better view and allow us to be next to each other. Then out of nowhere was a little ray of light, the size of an almond 1/2" in length, with a tiny moving center. The heart was beating strong. A few clicks later on the keyboard we were able to hear the fast heartbeat of an 8 week old baby. How can something so tiny make such an impression on your heart? Miracles do happen.

We are still trying grasp what we had seen. The past week has been hard on me, which is a good sign for the baby. We hope the nausea decreases with a little help from the Dr. The coming months are going to continue with excitement. This is a rollercoaster we are going to enjoy. Photo info: the baby's head is on the left almost looking up at it's hands.
