Four Month Appt

Gracie is our healthy happy girl! The doctor says she is right on schedule. She is

Weight: 50th percentile - 13lbs 15.5 oz

Height: 90th percentile - 25 1/5"

Head: 85th percentile

The fun will now begin with some rice cereal at night to maybe help her sleep. She actually also started to laugh in the dr's office as I was holding her and bouncing up and down with her, like our friends Hsiao-Yin and Mel talked about. What a rude awakening when the two shots came shortly there after. She is a trouper though and is enjoying some sleep. Have a great weekend everyone!

Fun Four Months

It's been a wonderful month and the past couple weeks especially have been great. Like George's blog says, we went to his house for a visit. My how they have grown!! Here are pictures of our first visit together when they were a month old. George is "the man" He has more hair, for now, is probably 3-4lbs heavier and could be an inch longer or more then Grace. We will have the official results Friday. Those growth hormones you are giving him are awesome and I don't understand why they are banned from sports?!?! lol
There were so many changes in these past three months!

The highlights for the past month:
  • Grace slept through the night twice. We hope the rice cereal we will start soon can help with this.
  • Despite how hard I tried to make her a pacifier baby, she has found her thumb and loves to suck on it during the day. She is already defying her mother and won't make our lives easier by sucking on it at night. We still have to go and put the pacifier in at night. Woman!

  • We have got a few chuckles out of her. She is a baby who loves smiling and is still trying to learn laughing.
  • She will "talk" at you when she is mad and ready for a change in scenery. There is a volume level to her talking and she will let you know when she is done.
  • Brandy is a new distraction for Grace and she is starting to look at her dog.
  • Grace loves to roll on her side, particularly her left side.
  • At some nap times when she doesn't want to sleep, she will kick her legs up in a pike position and then slam them straight down on the mattress so hard we can hear it in the family room. Working those abs!
  • She still has her blue eyes and more blonde hair is coming it. The strawberry blonde hair continues to fall out, though there are many remaining in the back.

Here are some more photos of our little lady. This is a photo of Grace in the adorable chickie sweater Grandma JeJe (is that how you want to spell it?) knitted. It was finished none-to-soon because it fits her perfectly right now. Another fun experience was a bath given by her cousin Alex. We have a video of Alex washing Gracie and making sure she was all clean during her bath...it is way too cute!!!

Here is her official 4 month photo. Now she can play with her monkey and zebra. Here is Gracie and Mo (the monkey's name for now) saying hi to everyone! Now it is bedtime for this old lady.

We wish you all the best during this time of change!

Happy Birthday Daddy!

Well yesterday was Daddy's birthday and Grace gave him one of the best gifts...she started to laugh. Grace felt a bit a little left behind that her birthday buddy George was laughing and she wasn't, so she took on the challenge. (I know don't compare kids, but Grace is Ms. Happy it was a bit surprising she wasn't laughing) The wait was worth it. Here is a video of our little lady starting to laugh and a her funny noise I am imitating.

Grace first: laughing, rolling on her side, not being swaddled at night, dealing with almost a cold, moving to an infant bath instead of a newborn, starting to sit-up on her own, and playing in the Johnny Jump-up. We are having some changes to her sleep schedule and eating. We will see how the weeks progress. I don't have time to update on everything but, I made it through my trip to ATL, with a cold, and with the help of my hubby and mom taking care of our little lady. Grace fared better then I did for sure. We are lucky to have family so close by. Margie gets her hand at day care in February.

Enjoy the video...it is about a minute or so.

Welcome 2009 - Happy New Year

Welcome 2009 and all the amazing changes to come. We know 2008 provided some life changes for Adam and me. 2009 will provide unbelievable changes for Miss Grace that we are excited to watch.

New Years while breastfeeding hinders your big celebrations a bit. My big toast at midnight was being woken up by Grace so she could have her midnight snack as we watched daddy through the windows winning at poker over at the neighbors house. Suburbia bliss.

The past two weeks has provided some quality time between Adam and Grace. Adam is amazed that Gracie gets fussy in the afternoons and can't figure out why. We have been so blessed to have such an easy baby that this fussy thing is new. As a family, we make it through. This is going to be the tough week for everyone since I am traveling to Atlanta. Thursday morning I leave on a 7am flight and won't be back to the house until Friday late afternoon. Thank you mom for helping!! Breastfeeding is going to be really interesting during the trip. I just hope airport security doesn't get called when I am pumping, possibly in the restroom. Can I tell you how much I hate the new liquid rules? Yes I know you can take breast milk on the plane...I am not taking the chance that the TSA would throw it away at security because I don't have a baby with me. That would just make me cry!

Grace is enjoying daycare at Mel's. Here is a 30 second video of Grace. Today she was all about her toys. Mel's bouncy seat is more of a seat then ours which gives Grace the chance to really interact with the toys more. She is giving Rocky a run for his money. In the background you can hear her buddy Elijah talking about his big desire to go to the park.

Enjoy the video and we will update you as changes come.
