24 week quickie...

Hey everyone - Here is a quickie note for you. As you can see the baby's room is painted. The white wall with the light switch in the photo is the only wall we are painting orange. Yes you read that right, orange. It is going to look a lot like the zebra we got. The rest of the walls are green and then our accent wall will have orange highlights on it. Once it is done, which will probably be right before the baby comes, we will post the photo.



The 24 week dr. appt went well other then the weight scare. My Dr. can't subtract on his pre-lunch empty stomach and thought I had gained 22lbs so far. He told me to just manage my eating. That was until Adam asked again about my starting weight and the Dr realized the gain is actually only 12lbs. Now I am not the type of lady to tell my starting weight only the average weight gain. Makes you feel good to know that the person who is delivering your baby doesn't do well adding, then again I have a hard time remembering any generic drug name to save my life. I prefer his strengths to be on the medical side ;P I am right on schedule with everything. The baby's heart rate was 140 today.


We can't wait for our babymoon this weekend. Saturday we head to Cozumel for 5 days and we are not even close to ready. I am looking forward to laying in the shade listening to the ocean waves crash while Adam enjoys a beer for me. We will write more next week!

23 weeks +

What a roller coaster week it has been. Last weekend we took on the task of shopping for cribs and dressers. When you think of furniture you usually focus on maybe size, color, and maker. With cribs and things of that nature, it is a whole other ballgame. There are so many colors, woods, designs, reviews, and knowing you probably will be putting the item together! After searching through 3+ shops in one day we did find a set we liked at the top of our price range. Being the financial people we are, we thought about it and I logged many a hour searching on the web for other options. First I liked one option, then I liked another option, and then I went back to the original crib...the roller coaster. The "makers" of cribs is more incestuous then an episode of All my Children. My hours did finally pay off, with some discussions with friends too, and we went to make our final selection today. Guess this set was meant to be since the dresser floor model was for sale at a 20% discounted. Who could argue with that deal? The photos of the crib are included, which we did have to order.

The baby has been fairly active these past couple weeks. Tomorrow we will see how the baby enjoys painting it's nursery. Yesterday I bought the green paint we finally decided on. After a trip to Home Depot to pick-up additional painting supplies, we will be ready to update the baby's room and closet. Don't worry, I am not going to be in there long with the paint fumes. The weather is allowing us to keep the windows open while the fans run! Our mini veggie garden is being planted, while I can still bend over and oh yeah...we are going up to the folk's farm to help them get ready for a party in June. The more accurate description, Adam is going to help work on the farm while I decide what I feel like doing. Either way, Brandy is going to get her pond time in!

Next week Adam goes to Nevada for some meetings, sadly for him they aren't in Vegas. We will see if I sleep better without him in our bed. Even Brandy has taken to sleeping more on the floor then in the bed with the ever-growing tossing prego lady. May 31st we head to Cozumel, Mexico for our babymoon! We will have our 24 week appt on the Friday before we leave. Both of us are looking forward to some warm weather, nice beach time, and relaxing. The week will fly!

Weeks 21 & 22

As you can see we missed a week of blogging. May 4th while I was waiting at the airport to fly to Atlanta for two days we learned that Adam's grandmother, Neil's mother, passed away peacefully in NJ. We scurried to arrange flights and things of that nature to be in NJ for the funeral on Wednesday. With the help of many people, we were able to be at the funeral and spend time with the East Coast family. The ceremony was beautiful, the weather cooperated, and we were able to say goodbye. She was ready to be with her men, Jesus & her husband of over 60 years.

The time with family was very nice and I think that we gained a couple pounds. Between the yummy pastries Adam's cousin provided, the pasta the family ordered, and the beer always flowing for non-prego people, we were ready to walk a couple miles. Adam and I were lucky to arrange a little time in Manhattan to celebrate our 6 year anniversary. Saturday morning was special, we were able to walk all around Central Park. The 50 blocks of walking helped to get rid of some excess calories. The attached photo, for Shara because she requested a belly shot, is at the location where we were engaged almost 7 years ago. We were in NY that time for his grandparent's 60 wedding anniversary. Isn't it amazing how his grandmother brought us back there again?

In baby news, the baby has been very active over the past couple weeks. Adam was able to feel the baby kick for the first time on May 3rd, my mother & Matthew's BD. There are times I wonder, as I am sitting quietly, if the baby is going to relax ever. While in NY the baby was a little less active with all of my movement. Now there is no stopping him/her. Adam likes to see my stomach getting bigger, which is so sweet of him to say.

Now I am in maternity clothes, which made the trip to NJ so interested. I flew directly from ATL to NJ. None of the maternity clothes were out and I hadn't tried that many on to know what fit. It is hard enough to tell a man what to pack you let alone when you only have a few options that you don't even know about. Let's just say, thank God for the ability to send photos over the phone. If there wasn't that technology, I think I would have looked like Britney Spears in way too tight of clothing showing too much of the wrong skin. "Hit/kick me baby one more time"

20 Weeks with a 3/4lb monkey

Like I thought, last week was a bit busy traveling for work and I didn't have time to write. Seattle is a beautiful city and the weather was perfect. The meeting went well as I was working through another cold. The baby did help me bowl the 2nd highest score of all the attendees.

At the end of last week it finally hit me that we are about half way through the pregnancy. That lead to a minor freak out of trying to register and selecting paint for the baby's room. My mom helped me register for a bit while Adam cleaned out the bedroom. He approved of our selections. Now I am going to be polling my "mom" friends to see what their must haves are and what I could possibly live without. Waiting to buy something if the baby wants it is my preference, since all babies are different, then buying too much.

Monday we went in for our 20 week appointment and ultrasound. At this appointment, the doctor needs photos of pretty much everything on the baby and me to see if everything is moving along as it should. Seeing the baby again after 12weeks of growth really makes you realize how fast they grow. We loved taking so many pictures of our little monkey. The 3/4lber (as Adam fondly said) moved to help the tech get all the images which lead to the nickname of little monkey. The baby loves to have it's hand by it's forehead and moved the hands a lot. We got some great photos of the profile, face, and even the adorable feet. Two of the photos are included with the baby's hand by it's forehead. The first is the 3D and the baby's head is in the left of that photo. In the second photo, the baby's head is at the right side with the elbow facing up.

The only concern is that I have placenta previa. The placenta is a bit too close to the cervix. This could hinder delivery. As I continue to grow the doctor, and many of my friend's who have had the same situation, believe the problem will move out of the way. If the placenta is still in the way we will just have to have a c-section. The baby is healthy with a four heart chambers, liver, kidneys, 10 fingers and toes. The sex is still a mystery. I am okay with a c-section if it means the baby will be okay.

With my little freak out, we registered for baby classes. We pick a couple that we feel are necessary from the numerous options. I also picked-up the baby book and my mom bought a wonderful baby memory calendar to write milestones in. Oh, Adam got the first CSU outfit for the 09-10 football season. This is going to be a busy summer preparing for the baby and playing before the baby comes. Also, I am working on arranging a trip out to KC to visit the sorority sisters...oh the fun. Poor Jess, she might hear way too much about babies/childbirth during that weekend to push her even farther from having kids :P (that was for not arranging your flights sooner)

I have been feeling the baby move. The baby loves fruit and moves quite a bit after I eat...I am sure it is the sugar within the fruit. Strawberries are one of it's favorites. Adam should be able to feel the baby within the next week or so. Seeing the baby on the screen really did make everything more real for both of us. Last night at the theatre the baby loved the louder music and singing. This kid might enjoy music as much as his/her partners.

18 Weeks and basking in the glow

This past week we were able to bask in the glow of KU winning...oh and the fact that there is that pregnancy glow I keep hearing about. The week was crazy getting ready for the youth retreat this weekend our band played at. The retreat was exactly what we needed, once we got there. The kids were great! We really enjoyed having time away from our daily grind and focusing on many other wonderful things. While we were up at the ranch, Frontier Ranch, we had to buy something to mark the occasion. This is the same ranch that Adam and I, with many of our life long friends, spent a lot of our high school time at. There are so many memories that this facility brings back and this time I was even able to bunk with Amber & Treese. It is really hard to get us together and keep a straight face. The photo attached is what we bought. This is such a fun animal and actually close to the colors we are going to paint the nursery. The orange is still up in the air.

The baby did give me a little direction this weekend on when to eat, what not to eat, and when I needed to relax. A growing Sweet P did make singing a bit harder. As the baby was stretching out in the belly my breathing was a little more strained...and it is only going to get harder.

There might not be a post next week because I am going to a work meeting in Seattle Monday - Thursday. Most of the ladies I have talked to have said they don't think I have popped out, though I might disagree with them. Either way, I am glad that this trip is coming early in the pregnancy. I am not looking forward to the three hour bowling event we are going to be participating in. Just what a pregnant woman wants to do: throw a 10lb ball down a lane to show off the ever growing backside to her co-workers that can drink beer while she enjoys her non-alcoholic drink. YEAH!

Week 17 and NCAA Champions

Maybe it wasn't a Cinderella story, but it was an amazing journey. For those of you that didn't see, KU won the Championship game vs. Memphis in an intense game. Honestly if I had been further along I might have gone into labor with all of the stress of the game. Guess this is the year for my teams...the Orange bowl and now NCAA champs. What more could a KU girl ask for? Now it is time to buy the memorabilia for the baby. Good thing I am planning a trip to KS this summer. We can stock-up on items. Dreams do come true all in one year.

Now on to true baby news, there isn't tons of news this week. My energy continues to be good and I am feeling great. Oranges still continue to be the item that I "crave" the most followed by ice cream. Since I don't know what I am suppose to be feeling, I don't know if I have felt the baby yet. I continue to grow normally and I am sure I have felt the baby's movements. It would be hard to miss a 5" baby moving, if you knew what to expect.

We still haven't made any changes to the house for the baby and we are going to have to look at getting a list together of must-dos before the baby comes. Some of those include: pediatrician, insurance, registering, day-care (if needed), and so many other things like that. Everyone must be smiling out there because they can remember what this confusion was like.

Our babymoon has been arranged. A four day trip to an all-inclusive resort in Cozumel at the very end of May is what the dr. ordered. Okay maybe the dr. didn't order but the parents want. This will be one last trip to just relax and only have to worry about the dog at home. Also, who can pass up using travel discounts while we still have them. Laying by the pool, cold filtered water in-hand, in the shade while reading a book is a heavenly dream right now. This weekend we are going to be attending a church retreat, where we are playing in the band. Having this break will be nice until Mexico.

That is the exiting news from the Peters' house now. Can't wait to continue blogging to keep everyone involved in the exciting changes that will be coming quickly!

16 Weeks and the Final Four

Another week of fun for me an the baby. My trip to LA went really well, even after a limited sleep due to the theatre on Thursday. Jess and I had a great time shopping for us and the baby. She is still upset, as are many, many, many other people, because they want to know the sex of the baby more then we do. There are so many cute outfits that would be fun to buy for either sex and we can wait until after Sept to buy them.

The baby did get some additional excitement last night during the KU game. There was probably so much blood pumping to the baby by my beating heart it got a head rush or headache. Could this be a dream year for me....KU going all the way and we have a baby? I have heard magical years happen to other people.

Today was our 16 week appt. My weight gain is normal, though I am excited to start walking Brandy more with the great weather and new heart monitor. The baby's heart rate is down from 160 to 150. The tech decided to tell us she thinks it is a boy. She is another person who thinks that and there are a very limited few that think it might be a girl. Only time will tell when the doctor says "it's a...."
